Christian Barte and Ilya Fedorkov learned this at a large telecommunications operator, where they shaped the company’s cost-controlling functions. They saw firsthand how much potential for effective management went untapped because technical teams and management operated in silos rather than working together. What began as an internal project evolved into the idea for their own company.

They founded Centida in 2014. Since then, they have brought together the people who—in many companies—work in separate rooms: those who build the numbers and those who use them to steer the business. The goal? To distill data into decisions that truly drive the company forward.

1. CLARITY - Getting to the point of what really matters (and yes, that's easier said than done).

2. RESPONSIBILITY - We are conscious of the responsibility our actions carry and of their consequences. We stand behind what we do. We don't run from the responsibility that comes with our work, not even when it comes to the crunch.

3. HONESTY - The result of our work is often a new insight and very often an uncomfortable truth. Naming it openly, not bending, and staying honest: that matters to us.

4. UNDERSTANDING / EMPATHY - In everything we do, we shouldn't forget that it's about people, and that we're only human too. Looking beyond our own horizon. Having understanding for the other side, the other perspective. Hard messages can also be delivered with respect, understanding, and responsibility.

5. COLLABORATION - The best team isn't the one with the best individual players, it's the one that works well together. That's true among colleagues just as much as with clients and service providers. Together we're stronger.

6. LEARNING FROM MISTAKES - Mistakes aren't a bad thing. Mistakes are part of life. What matters is how you deal with them: communicate openly, learn from them, get back up, and keep going.

7. TIME - Don't jump on every hype. Not everything has to be done and implemented right away. Switch the brain on and take the time to think things through. The old virtues hold: 'Strength lies in calm', 'Do it once and do it right', and 'Do a proper job'.

8. HOLISTIC - Don't look at things only in silos or in isolation, always keep the bigger picture in view.

9. BALANCE - We work long and hard. A lot of it happens under pressure and amid competing demands. It's important to step back regularly and catch your breath. That's not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of responsibility toward yourself.
